On November 5-7, 2010 the Philippine Student Association at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign hosted their 18th annual Filipino Americans Coming Together (FACT) Conference. Schools in attendance were from all over the midwest including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois. As a proud alumnus of the U of I and former coordinator of FACT in 2008, I was excited to return this year as a workshop presenter for the Senior Forum and as a DJ for the afterset.
FACT exists to empower and educate its Filipino American collegiate delegates on activism, social and cultural issues, career paths, and much more. The 3 day event comprises of a series of inspirational workshops and speakers, an energetic variety show, and one of the hottest after parties to hit the U of I campus. As I mentioned earlier, I had the privilege to spin for the afterparty along with Charles and Jason of the X-Fade Fam and our homeboys Ollie from U of I and Jon aka Noyze of Remix Entertainment.
Props to this year’s coordinators Ariel Hugh, Alex Roussos, and Allyson Adriatico on putting together another successful conference. PSA Love!
