July 2015 | Wedding | Ashish and Vidhi

We had the privilege to DJ the 3rd day of Ashish and Vidhi’s 3-day Indian wedding.  The first 2 days were more traditional to their culture while day 3 was meant more for socializing and dancing.  We were acquainted with Vidhi from high school at Lake Park so it was actually a nice little reunion seeing some of our old classmates!
The event took place at Salvage One in Chicago, a cool antique shop by day that’s available to rent for private parties.  Antiques included furniture, signage, toys, artwork, lighting and decorations.  Nearly 100% of the items in the building are available for purchase, including the bar that served as our DJ booth that day!
At one point in the night, the bridal party did a special dance performance dedicated to the bride and groom.  We also opened up the mic for any friends that wanted to give a little speech.  Ashish and Vidhi also got on the mic to thank their guests, tell some stories and roast some of their friends.
Everyone was dressed up in formal attire but the event itself was very casual and relaxed.  We played a lot of top 40 and pop throwbacks early.  As the night progressed, their guests loosened up a bit more and the dance floor was suddenly filled.  Early 2000s hip-hop and reggae were crowd favorites.
With the casual approach to the day, there was no first dance or really any other programming.  Ashish and Vidhi hired us to make it a party and we did just that!
