September 2015 | Wedding | Kevin and Lisa

It was a pleasure working with Kevin and Lisa on their wedding.  The lovely couple hosted it at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, IL.  It was a mild Summer day and the view of the golf course from the clubhouse was amazing.  The banquet room was nicely lit from the natural sunlight as we were setting up.
We introduced the couple to “Sugar” by Maroon 5 followed by their cake cutting to “Better Together” by Jack Johnson, one of my favorite acoustic tracks!  Their first dance was extra special, done to a live rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” covered by several of their friends composed of a singer, guitarist and percussionist.
The lights remained dim as it was time to open the dance floor, which meant it was time to use our new lighting software.  Our new software allows for more custom and precise control of our uplights enabling us to use effects and change colors instantly.  Charles and I enjoyed playing with different light settings as we were DJing, which really added some energy to the room, our DJ booth and our speaker stands.
I also have to commend the banquet staff and their management for their professionalism, great service and cooperation that night.  It makes our job so much easier when the staff communicates with us well and knows what they’re doing, which made the great night even better.
Thanks to Kevin and Lisa for having us!  We wish you the best!

August 2015 | Wedding | Rich & Yukie

Rich & Yukie

August 2015

Marriott Hotel, Lincolnshire, IL

This past August, Jeff and I had the pleasure of being the DJ’s for Rich & Yukie Shin at the Marriott Hotel in Lincolnshire, inside a tent near the Lakeside Pavilion Room.
We’ve had the pleasure of not only DJ’ing, but attending weddings with tents, and not only are they unique, but this allows for an amazing ambiance with proper up-lighting. Take a look!
Congratulations again Rich & Yukie Shin!

August 2015 | Wedding | Kirby and May

Location: Ravenswood, Chicago, IL

X-Fade and Remix collaboration provided: Ceremony sound, Cocktail music, DJ, emcee, party lighting

This wedding was one of our more logistical set ups.  We had a ceremony service upstairs, dinner downstairs and then dancing back upstairs again.  We made it all happen!

First I would like to mention that Ravenswood is a very great place to hold a wedding reception.  The staff was great, they never interrupted a speech or any type of event that was going on and worked closely with each vendor to understand the timeline of what needs to happen.  This created a great evening for everyone.

The ceremony was in a room upstairs that was full of windows that looked great with all the natural light coming in during the day time.  As everyone made their way downstairs to the dining area we provided entrance music, dinner music and organized the games the best man and maid of honor wanted to play.  Very entertaining dinner!

Once dinner service was finished we invited everyone to move back upstairs to do the father/daugher, mother/son, and first dance.  Then right after that was a dance party!  I played a lot of throwback hip hop and dance music with a little of today’s hits.  The last couple songs of the night I played a boy band segment including Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Hanson and ended the night with the couples entrance song It’s Going To Be Me – Nsync!  I felt the energy of everyone the whole night and everyone just wanted to keep going.  Another great wedding in the books!

August 2015 | Wedding | Jeff and Sheina

Location: Seville, Streamwood IL

X-Fade provided DJ, Emcee, party lights, monogram, ceremony and cocktail sound

Jeff and Sheina were a great couple to work with!  Their bridal party was ready to go even before the ceremony! The ceremony was a short and sweet service.  (picture below of the ceremony)  Right after that we had the cocktail hour in the reception area.

The introduction was great.  Each groomsman and bridesmaid had their own song and a little dance as they walked in.  The grand entrance song for the newly weds was shots by Lmfao and Sheina came in carrying a bottle of champagne. haha That was awesome.

During the dancing portion we started off slow playing al green and other various slow jams. Thirty minutes in we gave what the crowd wanted and played more top 40, throwback and new hip hop/R&B songs for the reminder of the night.  The dance floor was packed and it seemed like everyone including myself had a great time!

August 2015 | Wedding | Tom and Allie

Tom and Allie
August 2015
Patrick Haley Mansion, Joliet, IL
I’ve known Tom well before college and met Allie in college.  Knowing them, their family and friends, I already knew their wedding was going to be a great time.  Their wedding took place at the beautiful Patrick Haley mansion in Joliet, IL.  Plenty of windows gave the room a lot of natural light during the day.  The room was characterized by white walls, ceiling drapery and gold accents, a perfect setting for weddings.
Tom and Allie really knew how to make their wedding their own.  I assume they are “Game of Thrones” fans since their cake cutting song was the theme song from the show.  Tom also added a surprise to the mother son dance throwing in Silento’s “Watch Me” in the middle of the dance.  Tom and Allie’s first dance was to Usher’s “Something Special” followed by “Sayaw Sa Bangko,” a traditional Filipino cultural “bench” dance, which the two of them performed in college shows together.
The open dance part of the night was among the best we’ve had this season.  Their guests definitely came to party and I say we delivered!  Throwback hip-hop always does well, but I was also able to sneak in a few throwback dance songs like Cascada’s “Everytime We Touch,” a song we all enjoyed in college.
Doing weddings of people we know is always a good time and there’s no better way to unite with old friends!
